Malabar Education Movement established in 2020, is a non-governmental organization based in Calicut under the leadership of Prof. K.K.N. Kurup, historian and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Calicut. The Movement is working to bring quality education opportunities for the people of Northern Kerala. The organization has been examining the existing regional disparities in educational opportunities, bringing out crucial findings into public sphere leading to the onset of serious discussions on the topic in academic, social, and political spheres. Many reports were published by the organization that has been widely used by the media, academia, administrators and political leaders that helped them in taking actions. Observations and results were published in journals as well as in academic conferences. Involvement of Malabar Education Movement initiated a hitherto unfamiliar method of social work – data based social action in the Kerala society.
